The lost wonderland
After years of working various jobs (from caregiving for people with disabilities to hotel guest relations) and traveling non-stop…
Something unexpected happened that turned my then-adventurous life upside down.
Health issues forced me to stay home for over 2 years.
I went from traveling the globe and constantly trying new things to moving back to my parent’s home and being unable to work.
Losing the autonomy I used to have was heart-wrenching. I felt I had so much potential but couldn’t use it.
As months passed, I realized I couldn’t return to any of my previous jobs.
Accepting it was tough, but I had to move on and turn my efforts elsewhere to make a living.
Hello Marketing
This is when I found digital marketing and fell instantly in love.
I started studying like crazy. Day and night, acquiring one certification after another.
SEO, Social Media, Content Marketing, Ads… You name it! I even volunteered in different organizations, helping them with their digital presence.
But out of all specialties, copywriting captured my heart the most. Combining sales, psychology and writing, it was the ideal match for me.
Again, training and practice were all I was doing. With the Copyhackers, Copy Posse and CXL’s courses, you can’t go wrong, right?
Oh… And did I mention that all the above happened when COVID hit? In a period amidst quarantine and restraints, copywriting was my sane refuge.
And I knew it was the perfect time to dive into it as everything suddenly went digital.
The rise from the ashes
With countless jobs posted daily, I started applying for junior-level marketing and copywriting positions.
I was confident in the skills and knowledge I acquired and wanted to put those into practice.
But after many interviews, I was in despair – one rejection after another, plus numerous unanswered applications – and all that because I had no experience.
So, I decided to start my freelance business from scratch.
Being my own boss had always been my dream, and this was when Copy Virtuoso was born.
But, after 3 months in the business, I noticed I needed more experience in different niches.
So, I chose to put everything else on hold and got a job at a copywriting agency.
And so it happened… Within a year, I quickly rose through the ranks and became the lead copywriter.
I worked with household names, both Greek and international, playing a pivotal role in their online success.
From SEO strategies to copywriting for many marketing assets, I equipped myself with various skills.
I learned so much from my brilliant mentors and gained experience in diverse niches, including hospitality, real estate and marketing.
But while there, I started noticing something outrageous…
Even though we were leading with integrity and compassion, other professionals were deifying money over quality and genuine empathy.
The more I realized that, the more I started to see poorly delivered copy and SEO tactics.
Many even have the nerve to shamelessly overprice without overdelivering and caring about the customers.
Seeing businesses lose conversions and sales due to inefficient techniques and emotionless one-size-fits-all messaging repulsed me!
